SUNSTONE
TESTIMONIALS
"From the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. The facilitators, instructors, caterers, and participants, were some of the nicest people I’ve met. We began learning about our inner selves almost immediately. Most of the participants had been fighting cancer for quite awhile, so we all needed rejuvenation. With each other’s support, we dug deep into our souls. We used yoga to relax our bodies and meditation to relax our minds. We picked apart our fears and our dreams, learning how to allay one and accomplish the other. The soul searching we did brought us fresh, new strength with which to tackle new and old battles. I would highly recommend Sunstone for anyone who wants to learn about the tremendous power each of us carries within us every day of our lives. I’m happier now, than I have been for so long. The gift of my inner self is a most cherished gift. Once again, thank you to all." - Valorie “This retreat opened my eyes to new things; meditation, nutrition, yoga, and knowing that I am happy, healthy, and loved.” - Anonymous "When I arrived at Sunstone four days ago, I was hopeful but hesitant. As it is time to leave, I realize how lucky I have been to participate in this, one-of-a-kind cancer support retreat. I ponder the many lessons learned and all that I have grown during the past few hours and days; how many tools I take with me to use in my conquering this disease, to redesign my lifestyle to support my soul, my body and my mind. I truly believe I am now equipped to achieve a balance in my life." - Anna "Come to this retreat and don’t leave your trouble behind, bring all of your fears and sadness because they help peel it away, and they give you a river of support to dump it in, and pull out something for you." - Patrice - Greg “Ours was a visit unlike most. We are here to learn how to begin letting go. Good health to all that come after us. Speedy recovery and good mental attitudes. Always take time to stop, enjoy life, take awe in all of Nature’s gifts. We have learned a lot this weekend. As my daughter approaches the end of her physical life, we prepare for the beginning of another pain-free life for her. Her spirit will all but live here at Sunstone. May anyone else on our journey find peace with what will happen. Acceptance is the beginning of healing. Thank you Sunstone for being at the beginning of our new road.” - Sharon and Julee “This retreat opened doors for me that needed to be opened in order to grow and heal.” - Heidi "Eight weeks ago Samaria (my daughter) was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. The chemo has made her very weak, tired, and sick. She has also experienced a lot of frustration at not being able to go to school and birthday parties and such with her friends. Most of all she’s missed going on long bike rides through Lakeside Park and Lincoln Park. She has been feeling down lately and even when she was feeling okay physically she wouldn’t try any of her old hobbies or activities. Mostly she just wanted to watch movies and cartoons. Samaria got to attend the Jackie Novak Cancer Retreat for Children at Sunstone Cancer Support Center and Therapeutic Riding of Tucson (TROT). She had a great time and I really appreciate the scholarship we were given. Without it we’d never have been able to attend something like this." Read the whole story - Josh (Samaria’s dad) “This cancer retreat was one of the greatest experiences in my life and by far the best thing that has happened to us since my cancer diagnosis.” – Brian “The comradeship of being with others who have had a similar experience with cancer meant a lot to me.” – Tina “My life already feels better. I would highly recommend this retreat to everyone.” – Ana “This retreat was a special, unforeseen experience, and is not to be forgotten.” – Jody “I am leaving this retreat very light-hearted and very motivated. Thank you so much!” – Sharon “I got so much more out of this weekend than I ever expected. It was truly a time of relaxation and rejuvenation.” – Audrey “What a great chance to explore what life is all about – really important things, taught by bright, informed, and friendly ladies. Hearing others talk about their journeys and problems, and their reactions, helps to deal with our lives.” - Jan "The first time my son Andrew had an experience
with a horse was when he was twenty months old. I placed him on a dark
brown pony at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival one clear August day
in 1996. His dimpled hands grasped the saddle as he sucked on the pacifier
that covered his mouth. His eyes, however, were smiling and said what
his mouth could not. He was an active, healthy toddler then. There was
no way to predict or to prepare for what would occur only two months later. |
